While some were intentionally set by people trying to set or break a record, others were part of unavoidable circumstances caused by nature. In celebration of Labour Day, a bonfire with a volume of 60,589 feet cubed was constructed by SKD Mladi Bostanj and lit on April 30, 2007 in Bostanj, Slovenia. The bonfire was also more than 142 feet tall , qualifying it for the talent bonfire in the world on record.
Longest Run During a Full-Body Burn
Stunt performers do it all , from leaping tall buildings to running around while completely covered in fire. For Keith Malcolm of the United Kingdom, his professional stunt routine earned him a world record for longest run during a full-body burn. On July 5, 2009 at the Stannage International Stunt Team at the Alton Show in Hampshire, UK, he ran 259 feet while his body was fully on fire.
Largest Burning Man Festival
The annual Burning Man festival is a weeklong celebration named after a giant wooden effigy that is burned during the Saturday of Labor Day weekend. The event has been going on since 1986. To date, the largest gathering for the festival took place at Black Rock Desert in Nevada, where 49,599 visitors came for the 2008 event.
Highest Flame Blown by a Fire Breather
Tim Black from Australia is known as the fire breather who achieved the highest flame blown. It measured 23 feet and 7 inches in height and was completed on September 15, 2007 in Beijing China.
Most People Spinning Fire
Fire spinning is an alluring practice that is now available for booking at special events and weddings. However, the record for the most people spinning fire at one time was achieved on August 15, 2009 at an event organized by The Arts Factory Lodge in New South Wales, Australia. 102 participants spun fire for a total of 6 ½ minutes. The twirling was also accompanied by a group of drummers, who kept track of time by beating on their instruments. A crowd of more than 300 people cheered on the spinners.
Tallest Volcanic Fire Fountain
Volcanoes erupt and that’s a known fact, but do you know what structure is recorded to have produced the tallest fire fountain? For starters, a volcanic fire fountain is when a violent, geyser-like eruption of incandescent lava takes place. The Izu-Oshima volcano in Japan erupted in November 1986 and with it came a flood of fire that spewed into the air , reaching a recorded 5,250 feet in height.
